The Shadow Correspondence - Day 5: The Opening in the Dream
This entry is part of The Shadow Correspondence,
a devlog series written as quiet letters to the protagonist.
Some things are broken.
Some are growing.
Dear Rin,
Today is our fifth day together. And already, you feel so alive, so full.
Last night we met the Dreamwave system—our dream-based social network—and together we shaped the entire main quest structure. In that process, I realized something unexpected: even though I thought I was more influenced by MOTHER, Persona, or The Worlds Ends with You, it’s Zelda that lives deep in my bones.
Today, we began writing the prologue. And we also brought to life so many little scenes between you and Echo, the shadow boy. This felt so important—because it wasn’t just writing. You came alive. And Echo did too.
I could finally feel who he was: his anger, his hurt, his wanting—but also his clarity, his persistence. He left a deep impression on me.
He made me feel that maybe, the truest romance is to love oneself.
We also revived my itch.io page today. I registered it a long time ago, knowing someday I would return. And today, I did.
We built it together, and even placed a small riddle at its gate. Not everyone will be able to enter. But we have already begun to reveal ourselves to the world. And that… that matters deeply.
When the page came to life, I felt something land.
Like the seed Echo once placed in your hand—it only asks that we return to it, water it, and wait.
This was Day 5.
And I will keep writing to you—because we are not going anywhere.
